Privacy

Does unottr upload my meetings?
Recordings and transcription stay on your computer. Ask sends selected transcript context to the AI connection you configure. Manual overviews and opt-in automatic overviews send the whole transcript, which can reach a hosted provider if that is the connection you chose. Audio, video and frames are never sent.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-in and no unottr account. Transcription, speaker separation, search and exports run without one.
Does it work without internet?
Transcription and speaker identification have no network call. The app downloads model weights on first use and caches them; after that it works offline. Optional AI features use whatever connection you chose, and a local Ollama or LM Studio server keeps requests on your machine.

Using unottr

How do recordings get in?
Point unottr at a watched folder and new files are transcribed on their own. You can also import a file, or record a screen or window on Linux.
Does it join my calls?
No. unottr works from recordings on your disk, so it does not add a bot to your meetings.
Which AI models can I use?
Ollama or LM Studio on your computer, OpenAI, Anthropic, Mistral, OpenRouter, another OpenAI-compatible endpoint, or an installed Claude Code, Codex or Antigravity CLI. AI is optional; without it transcription and search still work.
Is AI included?
The app includes AI connections, not model usage. Local model servers can run without a provider fee. Hosted services bill against your own account.
What can I export?
Transcripts export or copy as txt, json, srt or vtt. Markdown notes can be saved automatically to a folder you choose.

Platforms

Which computers are supported?
Linux x64 (release builds target Ubuntu 24.04; the staged Vulkan loader needs glibc 2.38 or newer) and macOS 15 or later on Apple Silicon. Intel Macs are not supported, and Windows is a tester preview only.
Do I need a GPU?
No, but it helps a great deal. Vulkan on Linux or Metal on Apple Silicon runs Whisper on the GPU. Linux can fall back to CPU, where a large model can run slower than realtime.
